SICK TREE DIAGNOSIS
Trees are living organisms. In fact, trees are the largest living organism on Earth! Since trees are living organisms, like humans, they will suffer from environmental, abiotic, or natural forces that disrupt their normal healthy growth pattern. Some forces are superficial causing only minor deficiencies in the trees’ normal growth pattern. Some, however, can be extremely detrimental, and often fatal, to the tree’s life.
As with humans, the best approach to proper tree health is preventative maintenance. Adequate moisture, nutrients, sunlight, and soil are all important factors to good tree health. With the right balance of these ingredients, trees will tend to thrive. When one or more of those items are missing or detrimental to the plant, the tree will negatively react and will start showing signs that something is wrong.
HOW CAN I TELL IF MY TREE IS SICK?
Often there are clear first signs that something is wrong with your tree. The leaves will usually provide the first and best clue. Yellow, spotted, stunted, wilted, or dead leaves is a fairly good indication that something is not right with the tree - either internally or externally. At Ulrich Tree Care we have decades of experience in evaluating trees. We know what a healthy tree of each species looks like as it grows in the Tulsa landscape. Being ISA Certified Arborists, we have the knowledge and education to spot an abnormality early on. We can catch and treat the issue before it manifests itself into a more serious situation that may require more treatments or, in the worst case - be fatal to the tree.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I SUSPECT MY TREE IS SICK?
The best action is to simply contact Ulrich Tree Care. We will send out an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist® who will do a FREE site evaluation of your property. We will get a brief history of the recent care of the tree from you and will use that information along with the signs and symptoms that the tree is exhibiting to come up with a diagnosis. We will give you as many options as we can to allow you to make a decision on treatment that is based on your risk level, attachment to the tree, and budget. We are never pushy in our sales approach and will give you time to make the decision that is best for you and your property.
